Sand dollar crochet doily

Ever since I was small, I have been fascinated by sand dollars.  When I was small, someone had gifted me one decorated with dry flowers.  I would look at it every night and think of the beauty of the sea, the sand and the waves!

Inspired by the beautiful sand dollar, I have created this unique doily.  It is not a perfect circle, as are not sand dollars, but I do feel it looks very similar to a gorgeous sand dollar that I can decorate with flowers and seashells on my coffee table!

This is my first time using Red Heart Fashion Thread and I found it very easy to work with.  This doily can very well be made with any yarn and matching hook size.  3.5mm was the recommended hook size for this yarn, and I used the same.

This project was a holiday project done on a holiday, so it will always remind me of the good times I had on the holiday!  It's a super easy and fast pattern. The pattern is perfect for beginners with step by step pictures along with the written instructions!

You can now cut the thread and weave in the ends!
I have not blocked this project, as I liked the rustic and non blocked feel of it.  I might block it in the future to get a more even look.  But for now I am just enjoying the wavy and unfinished look of this sand dollar doily!
